On 12 August 2026, Palma will experience a unique astronomical phenomenon: a total solar eclipse. For approximately 1 minute and 36 seconds, the city will be plunged into darkness similar to dusk, just after 8.30 pm. The path of totality passes south of Mallorca, making it one of the best places in Spain to enjoy the event. With the sun low on the horizon and the Mediterranean as a backdrop, conditions will be exceptional for witnessing this once-in-a-lifetime natural spectacle.
The Sóller Railway has launched an exclusive tourist package priced at €220 to mark the total solar eclipse on 12 August 2026. The experience includes a journey on its iconic train from Palma, a tram ride and a boat trip from the Port of Sóller to view the eclipse from the sea.
