The theater company Su Boira presents its 65th production with one of the greatest tragedies of world theater: Medea, by Euripides, in Ramón Irigoyen’s adaptation.
After acclaimed works such as The Trojan Women and Phaedra, the group returns to Greek tragedy. This version, staged in 1992 by Núria Espert with Irene Papas as Medea at Barcelona’s Greek Theatre, highlights the protagonist’s complexity: powerful, passionate, intelligent, and vengeful. Medea defies gender norms of her time, embodying a sorceress, a tormented mother, and an unstoppable force.
