Marc Sarrats is a Catalan scriptwriter and comedian, considered one of the most outstanding voices of the new stand-up scene in Catalonia. He works on the Està passant programme on 3Cat, has been part of the El Soterrani collective and has worked on Matina Codina on RAC105. In 2024, he published a collection of humorous short stories entitled Tot el que no sigui morir-se (Everything That Doesn’t Keep Dying) with La Magrana. He currently hosts the Vale OK podcast and has recently premiered a fiction series as an actor in 3Cat, El creador d’influencers.
The comedian will be performing at the Teatre Municipal Maruja Alfaro Mar i Terra on 14 February, starting at 8 pm. Please note that the show will be performed in Catalan.
In Vaques flaques, Marc Sarrats performs a stand-up routine that combines sharp humour with reflections on how to live, and even how to raise children. This is set against a backdrop of a world marked by a series of crises, including economic instability, inflation, drought, the rise of extreme rhetoric, and social mistrust. From a personal and very self-critical perspective, he connects with the tradition of the most conscious stand-up. There is no room for self-righteousness, as he turns his own contradictions into fuel for laughter.
Through intense and energetic performances, he tackles topics such as masculinity, therapy, religion, politics, and the collapse of the First World. He uses comedy as a way to resist, understand and, at least for a while, laugh at the coming of the apocalypse.
