The exhibition at Fundación Miró in Palma features “Grip Face,” an installation of twelve suspended sculptures representing masks hanging from thorn ropes, arranged in the shape of the European Union symbol. This artwork questions Europe’s pacifist identity and its ambiguous role in armed conflicts, showing fragmented figures that can be read as symbols of resistance or protective amulets. Inspired by bombings in children’s areas in Gaza and Ukraine, the installation uses still swings hung from thorns to highlight childhood vulnerability during wartime. The Espai Cúbic becomes a space inviting thoughtful reflection on European identity, collective memory, and the fragility of contemporary peace.
