DESCRIPTION:50 d’anys d’memocràcia is Toni Albà’s satirical comedy reviewing five decades of democracy in Spain through humour. The play is told from the King’s perspective as he prepares to deliver a speech celebrating and commemorating Franco’s death.  \nSYNOPSIS\nThe lead character is an exiled king who must return home to attend an official ceremony and deliver a solemn speech. During rehearsals\, the event’s technical team feeds him constant instructions through an earpiece. However\, things get complicated when the character proves incapable of following the script. The contrast between official protocol and his behaviour leads to absurd and highly comical situations.    \nPolitical satire\, slapstick humour and improvisation are all part of the show. The play’s ironic approach reflects on collective memory and the evolution of democracy. The title playfully combines the Catalan word for “democracy” (democracia) with the word for “fool” (memo)\, lending a critical yet humorous edge to the show.   \nDon’t miss out on this great play.
