SUMMARY:Rumores infundados. Javier y Rafa Forteza
DESCRIPTION:CaixaForum Palma hosts the first joint exhibition of Javier and Rafa Forteza\, two creators who\, from distinct yet parallel paths\, explore the limits of the image\, the enigma of the face\, and the power of abstraction. \nTheir works reveal androgynous faces and ambiguous forms that invite introspection\, balancing between pain and calm\, memory and suggestion. While Javier presents mobile faces charged with emotion\, Rafa crystallizes matter on abstract surfaces where raw canvas and repetition become poetic language. Both artists open a symbolic space for emotion\, strangeness\, and uncertainty.

SUMMARY:Elisa Braem. Nos encontramos en la noche
DESCRIPTION:“Nos encontramos en la noche” invites visitors to explore the sculptural universe of Elisa Braem\, characterized by experimentation with clay\, enamel\, wood\, and metal. The exhibition integrates animal\, plant\, and human forms with natural and architectural elements\, creating a symbiosis that reflects the human connection to the environment. \nThrough a poetic and philosophical language\, Braem’s sculptures link the terrestrial with the universal\, exploring themes such as nature\, light\, the sky\, and the fragmentation of territory. Her practice emphasizes the relationship between concept and gesture\, and how clay becomes a metaphor for time\, memory\, and interacting forces. The exhibition at Es Baluard offers a sensory and reflective journey through material and form.

This artwork questions Europe’s pacifist identity and its ambiguous role in armed conflicts\, showing fragmented figures that can be read as symbols of resistance or protective amulets. Inspired by bombings in children’s areas in Gaza and Ukraine\, the installation uses still swings hung from thorns to highlight childhood vulnerability during wartime. The Espai Cúbic becomes a space inviting thoughtful reflection on European identity\, collective memory\, and the fragility of contemporary peace.

SUMMARY:Mabi Revuelta. «La máscara habitada»
DESCRIPTION:The Inhabited Mask depicts an intimate connection between two characters\, Joan and Ninna\, who wander through Joan Miró’s most enchanting studio at Son Boter\, embarking on a mythical journey through the rooms of the house. These figures appear to exist in a suspended state of consciousness\, offering the world their profound and generous vision. Contemporary dancer Pilar Andrés (Ninna) performs alongside the voices of Gabriel Ocina (Joan) and Ena Fernández (Ninna)\, crafting a unique narrative that blends dance\, film\, photography\, and sculpture. This work is part of the audiovisual series La stanza dipinta\, created by Mabi Revuelta during her residency at the Spanish Academy in Rome in 2023\, filmed at archaeological sites such as the Etruscan necropolis of Banditaccia and the villas of Pompeii. The films reflect on archaeological heritage\, the artistic legacy of mural paintings\, and a poetic exploration of the spaces housing them.

DESCRIPTION:The exhibition Paysage Miró. Colour and Its Shadow invites visitors to immerse themselves in the creative world of Joan Miró through the interplay between his paintings and sculptures. The selection includes bronze sculptures\, paintings\, and works on paper\, offering a non-linear journey through his artistic evolution. \nSpecial focus is placed on his sculptural work from the 1960s onwards\, featuring totemic figures and assemblages made from found objects—reflecting his fascination with folk art and the primitive. These works are paired with paintings that evoke mystery\, symbolism\, and ancestral themes. \nThis exhibition is part of Paysage Miró\, a collaborative project with the Reina Sofía Museum\, shown across four major contemporary art venues in Palma: La Llotja\, Es Baluard Museum\, Fundació Miró Mallorca and Casal Solleric. Each space offers a unique perspective\, forming a shared artistic landscape.

SUMMARY:The shadow of the sun
DESCRIPTION:On July 9th at 7:00 p.m.\, the Center for Military History and Culture will host the opening of the traveling exhibition “The Shadow of the Sun\,” a collection of large-format images that reflect\, from a deeply human perspective\, the experience of Barceló Foundation aid workers and volunteers in Africa. \nRather than focusing on the technical aspects of the projects on the ground\, this exhibition focuses on the emotional and personal dimension of those who take part in these solidarity initiatives. Each photograph reveals fragments of life\, encounters\, and emotions\, revealing the human impact of international cooperation. \nInspired by the narrative spirit of Polish journalist Ryszard Kapuściński (1932–2007)\, whose chronicles on Africa are already benchmarks of committed journalism\, the exhibition offers a sensitive\, intimate\, and reflective look at the continent. The images\, guided by his words\, convey stories of resilience\, dignity\, and hope. \nVisitors to the exhibition will be able to experience the daily reality of the African communities with which the Foundation works. Through this visual window\, visitors will discover not only the cultural and scenic richness of Africa\, but also the value of human encounters\, beyond borders. \n“The Shadow of the Sun” will be open to the public from July 9 to 26\, 2025\, at the Center for Military History and Culture (C/ San Miguel 69\, Palma)\, Monday to Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.\, and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. \nAn opportunity to pause\, look\, and reflect on the transformative power of human commitment.

SUMMARY:Jorinde Voigt · Introspection
