SUMMARY:PILAR JUNCOSA – THE SHINING STAR
DESCRIPTION:Pilar Juncosa\, the partner of Joan Miró\, was an important figure in the life of the Catalan painter. \nAware of the role she played in his life\, the Pilar i Joan Miró Foundation decided to pay tribute to her by naming the Foundation’s library the Biblioteca Pilar Juncosa. Furthermore\, her profile was added to Wikipedia with the aim of increasing the number of entries about women in the Balearic Islands. The project was led by the Biblioteca de Cort\, as part of the March 8th celebrations. It was the Biblioteca Pilar Juncosa\, together with her family and the entity Successió Miró\, who drafted and added the profile of Joan Miró’s wife to Wikipedia. \nPilar Juncosa played a fundamental role\, not only in Joan Miró’s life but also in his work. For this reason\, as a continuation of the well-deserved tribute\, the Pilar i Joan Miró Foundation has added a permanent exhibition in her honour. \n* The exhibition is located in the Biblioteca Pilar Juncosa\, accessible on the first floor of the Moneo Building at the Pilar i Joan Miró Foundation. \nVisiting hours:\n\nMonday to Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.\n\n* Tuesday\, Wednesday\, and Thursday also from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

SUMMARY:ZULOAGA / ANGLADA-CAMARASA
DESCRIPTION:The friendship between Ignacio Zuloaga and Hermen Anglada-Camarasa is reflected in the letters they exchanged over the years. These writings offer a deeper insight into their work and their vision of art. They first met at the 1900 Paris Exposition\, where they were already making a name for themselves as artists. From then on\, they maintained a friendship characterised by regular meetings and constant correspondence. In their letters\, they shared opinions\, advice\, and reflections on the creative process and their personal lives. \nThis exhibition brings together twenty-four works\, twelve by each painter\, allowing visitors to compare their artistic similarities and differences. Both depicted popular themes in Paris at the time\, such as female models (majas)\, gypsy women\, and landscapes\, and both were influenced by impressionism and post-impressionism. However\, their styles reveal distinctly different\, personal approaches to their art. \n* Free entry for Caixabank customers and visitors under 16 years old.

SUMMARY:La força inicial
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition at Palma’s Llotja features bronze sculptures that reflect Miró’s exploration of form and symbolism in three dimensions. Works such as Oiseau lunaire and Maternité reveal a dialogue between the ancestral and the modern\, the natural and the fantastical. Displayed in the Gothic setting of the Llotja\, the pieces highlight the poetic and cosmic essence of Miró’s sculptural vision.

SUMMARY:Paysage Miró: The Magic Spark
DESCRIPTION:Palma transforms into an authentic Miró landscape: the places that marked Joan Miró’s first artistic steps during his childhood now serve as the setting for a grand celebration of his legacy. \n“The Magic Spark” is the centerpiece of an ambitious project titled Paysage Miró\, developed in collaboration with the Reina Sofía National Museum and Successió Miró. This initiative brings together four key contemporary art spaces in Palma\, each offering a unique perspective on the artist’s work: \n\n\nLa Llotja\, where you can admire his imposing bronze sculptures with dark patinas\, full of solemnity. \n\n\nEs Baluard Museum\, highlighting Miró’s revolutionary spirit and his significance as a pioneering figure in contemporary painting. \n\n\nCasal Solleric\, which delves into the dialogue between painting and sculpture within the artist’s creative universe. \n\n\nFundación Pilar and Joan Miró Mallorca\, a place closely connected to their life and artistic work on the island. \n\n\nTogether\, these institutions weave a shared experience: a broad and enriching vision of Miró’s world\, where Palma becomes the grand stage for his art.

SUMMARY:Mabi Revuelta. «La máscara habitada»
DESCRIPTION:The Inhabited Mask depicts an intimate connection between two characters\, Joan and Ninna\, who wander through Joan Miró’s most enchanting studio at Son Boter\, embarking on a mythical journey through the rooms of the house. These figures appear to exist in a suspended state of consciousness\, offering the world their profound and generous vision. Contemporary dancer Pilar Andrés (Ninna) performs alongside the voices of Gabriel Ocina (Joan) and Ena Fernández (Ninna)\, crafting a unique narrative that blends dance\, film\, photography\, and sculpture. This work is part of the audiovisual series La stanza dipinta\, created by Mabi Revuelta during her residency at the Spanish Academy in Rome in 2023\, filmed at archaeological sites such as the Etruscan necropolis of Banditaccia and the villas of Pompeii. The films reflect on archaeological heritage\, the artistic legacy of mural paintings\, and a poetic exploration of the spaces housing them.

SUMMARY:Grip Face. «Utopía del Lodo y Sashimi de Bruma»
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition at Fundación Miró in Palma features “Grip Face\,” an installation of twelve suspended sculptures representing masks hanging from thorn ropes\, arranged in the shape of the European Union symbol. This artwork questions Europe’s pacifist identity and its ambiguous role in armed conflicts\, showing fragmented figures that can be read as symbols of resistance or protective amulets. Inspired by bombings in children’s areas in Gaza and Ukraine\, the installation uses still swings hung from thorns to highlight childhood vulnerability during wartime. The Espai Cúbic becomes a space inviting thoughtful reflection on European identity\, collective memory\, and the fragility of contemporary peace.

SUMMARY:Elisa Braem. Nos encontramos en la noche
DESCRIPTION:“Nos encontramos en la noche” invites visitors to explore the sculptural universe of Elisa Braem\, characterized by experimentation with clay\, enamel\, wood\, and metal. The exhibition integrates animal\, plant\, and human forms with natural and architectural elements\, creating a symbiosis that reflects the human connection to the environment. \nThrough a poetic and philosophical language\, Braem’s sculptures link the terrestrial with the universal\, exploring themes such as nature\, light\, the sky\, and the fragmentation of territory. Her practice emphasizes the relationship between concept and gesture\, and how clay becomes a metaphor for time\, memory\, and interacting forces. The exhibition at Es Baluard offers a sensory and reflective journey through material and form.

SUMMARY:Sandra Cinto. Preludio para el sol y las estrellas
DESCRIPTION:“Prelude for the Sun and the Stars” transforms Es Baluard Museu’s Espacio C into an immersive space where time\, matter\, and perception intertwine. Sandra Cinto creates an expanded landscape through drawing\, line\, and rhythm\, inviting reflection and contemplation. \nThe site-specific installation unfolds across three interconnected spaces: monumental fabrics evoking the seven seas\, a golden mural suggesting a boundless metaphysical landscape\, and a dark blue mural fostering introspection. Drawing becomes an emotional architecture\, with light and water as metaphors of time\, generating a multisensory experience that links the intimate\, cosmic\, and collective dimensions. Brazilian artist Sandra Cinto offers a poetic and symbolic refuge\, inviting the viewer on a reflective and immersive journey.

SUMMARY:Rumores infundados. Javier y Rafa Forteza
DESCRIPTION:CaixaForum Palma hosts the first joint exhibition of Javier and Rafa Forteza\, two creators who\, from distinct yet parallel paths\, explore the limits of the image\, the enigma of the face\, and the power of abstraction. \nTheir works reveal androgynous faces and ambiguous forms that invite introspection\, balancing between pain and calm\, memory and suggestion. While Javier presents mobile faces charged with emotion\, Rafa crystallizes matter on abstract surfaces where raw canvas and repetition become poetic language. Both artists open a symbolic space for emotion\, strangeness\, and uncertainty.

An exhibition featuring more than 1\,100 nativity scenes\, four large nativity scenes\, a display of convent pastries and crafts\, a model train\, and\, with children in mind\, another locomotive with toy figures\, opened on Friday afternoon\, 11 December.  \n  \nPilar and Carolina Vázquez have spent four days setting up their exhibition of traditional Mallorcan nativity scenes\, featuring over 1\,100 cribs from 59 countries and 30 Spanish provinces. “I enjoy putting up and taking down the nativity scenes”\, explained Pilar\, who is the collector of the two sisters and current president of the Francesc Rosselló Nativity Scene Association (Agrupació de Betlemistes Francesc Rosselló). The Jai de Nadal is now in its fourteenth year\, and the Vázquez sisters have been organising their exhibition since 2019. SUMMARY:Artist Fiona Rae exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Vista is the first solo exhibition in Spain by leading contemporary abstract British artist Fiona Rae. The exhibition will be on display in Room C at Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani in Palma. It will feature a representative selection of works created by the artist over the last three decades. Pieces from important international collections such as the Tate Museum and the Fundació “la Caixa” will be included\, as well as a recent donation from the Fundación Barrié to Es Baluard. \nThe title of the exhibition invites visitors to explore the pieces as if they were viewpoints or visual panoramas\, encouraging them to examine them from multiple angles within the gallery’s open-plan space. \nThings to see:The exhibition shows the evolution of Rae’s distinctive pictorial language through different stages of her career. Her artwork is full of energy\, humour\, and complexity. She challenges modern painting conventions through abstract compositions that incorporate contemporary visual culture influences\, ranging from classical engravings to graphic design and digital imagery. \nThis is a must-see for lovers of vibrant modern contemporary art\, and an ideal addition to your cultural tour of Palma.
