Purísima Concepción (Capuchin nuns)

Cloistered convent with home-made sweets

A unique opportunity to enter a cloistered convent and discover the past and the present of a religious community that preserves valuable historical, artistic and ethnographic heritage. The Convento de la Purísima Concepción de Monjas Capuchinas, founded in 1662 and declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC; site of cultural interest), preserves unique spaces in which popular architecture and objects tied to ancestral work serve to remind us of Mallorca of the past.

The silence and calm contained within its walls invite us to bask in the stillness of the heart of the city. Another reason to visit the Purísima Concepción are the convent’s home-made sweets, sold through the turnstile window, or ‘torno’. Interestingly, the convent is also well known for its remarkable historic collection of Christmas nativity scenes.
